Delegation of specialists from Tourism Department of Sports and Tourism Ministry of Republic of Belarus, National Tourism Agency, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Belarusian State University of Physical Culture have held a visiting meeting with local representatives as part of providing Orsha and Orsha district methodological and practical assistance.
The delegation reviews means of accommodation, discussed the issues that require urgent solutions in order to increase the interest and comfort of foreign tourists.
The historic sites of former Jesuit college complex of 17th century and Orsha ethnographic museum “Mlyn” were visited. And it’s been noted that, despite the high-quality presentation of the exhibit and unique funds, they need to provide more audio-guides in English.
Orsha linen factory was presented as an example of industrial tourism. This plant has upgraded production, modern trademark shop and high-quality products to any taste. Professionals of the linen factory successfully collaborated with lead clothing brands, ensuring the demand and popularity of textile products among the production’s clients. Upgraded production, modern equipment and technical process are of great interest to those tourists that want to learn how raw flax turns into high-quality fabrics and products. The “trademark shop – production” chain has great potential for industrial tourism development.
In general, Orsha district has points of growth of its regional tourism industry. Suggestions of the delegation and local authorities and professionals will be included into certain programs and projects for the development of this region.
National tourism agency is grateful to their colleagues in Orsha district for cooperating during visiting meeting.
